This class includes passenger and freight transport by interurban railways. It also covers related activities such as shunting and switching. Exclusions: The operation of sleeping cars is classified in class 5510 (Hotels; camping sites and other provision of short-stay accommodation) and the operation of dining cars is classified in class 5520 (Restaurants, bars and canteens), when carried on by separate units. Suburban railway transport is classified in class 6021 (Other scheduled passenger land transport). Passenger and freight terminal activities, cargo handling, storage and other auxiliary activities are classified in the appropriate class of group 630 (Supporting and auxiliary transport activities; activities of travel agencies). Maintenance and minor repair of rolling stock is classified in class 6303 (Other supporting transport activities).
