The proposed two-digit level structure for section 19 "Arts, entertainment and recreation":
19.1 Dramatic arts, music and other arts activities
19.2 Museums, historical sites, botanical and zoological gardens and nature reserves
19.3 Gambling and betting activities
19.4 Other entertainment and recreation activities
Summary of responses to section 19 "Arts, entertainment and recreation"
In all, 17 countries offered some advice on one or the other of these questions. Some suggestions occur more frequently than others.
Four countries believe this grouping is not significant enough to have it represented at the section level (Brazil, France, Japan, Portugal) and propose that it be merged with Other services in a personal services aggregate.
Another recurring observation is that libraries and archives should be in this section rather than in the information section (Brazil, Spain, France, Italy).
Splitting out sporting activities at the division level also gets a lot of support, with 5 countries (Austria, Belgium, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom).
Three countries support the proposal as is (Canada, the United States and Mexico).
Two countries support moving scientific and technical writers from this section to section 13 (Finland and Hungary).
France proposes that 19.1 be split between performance arts and other artistic activities.
On boundary issues, the following opinions are given.
