The question of creating a separate category for Biotechnology in ISIC has been raised.

Decision
The request to identify biotechnology in ISIC was discussed. However, the discussion over the last days had shown, based on Canadian experience, this to be unsuitable for an industry classification since it Biotechnology was just that - a technology.
The Technical Subgroup decided that ISIC will not create new classes for biotechnology in 2002.
